Zitto in The Netherlands on agenda: Oil and Gas

A delegation of members of the Parliament from Tanzania arrived in The Netherlands on Monday, for a 4-days study tour.

The tour which begins Monday 21st May 2012 until the 24th will see the Honorable MPs Zitto Kabwe, hon. Nasir, hon. Sarah Msafiri and David Kafulila and Ms. Pallangyo meeting representatives of the Netherlands Ministries of Foreign Affairs and that of Economic Affairs, Agriculture & Innovation (EL&I). The meeting will provide opportunities to discuss issues such as government policies on careful and transparent exploration/exploitation of natural resources and on management of the ensuing income, and Dutch experience in the field (Dutch disease and its prevention and cure).

They delegates will tour the port of Rotterdam to be followed by presentation of BAM international on LNG.

The MPs will also have a meeting with the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture And Innovation, Mr. Verhagen.

The MPs will also have an opportunity for site and company visits.

They will meet the Netherlands enterprises that have expertise in  fields which are of immediate relevance to oil and gas exploration and accompanying service delivery.

Also in plan is to visit the Shell company for an introduction to upstream exploration and production and  off-shore exploration and development before adjoining for discussions on global energy dynamics as well as partnerships between countries and International Oil Companies.

They will  tour on the largest terminal in Europe and Vopak company at Europort terminal. Vopak is a provider of conditioned storage facilities and transshipment solutions for bulk liquids (oil and LNG). It operates in 31 countries worldwide at 84 terminals along the world’s major shipping lanes.

Another visit is to the Port of Rotterdam / Havenbedrijf Rotterdam (Port of Rotterdam Authority).

Rotterdam is the largest port with industrial complex of Europe of major, global importance both in field of transfer of containers as well as of (liquid and dry) bulk (crude oil, chemicals, coal, ore etc). The Port of Rotterdam Authority manages, operates and develops the port and industrial area. It invests in the development of the existing port area, new port sites (Maasvlakte 2), public infrastructure and the handling of shipping.

The MPs expect to gain first hand knowledge and experience from The Netherlands that may be beneficial to Tanzania.
